Cables Industry

United Kingdom (UK)

Duration: 6 months
The project:
BCT Group successfully delivered one of the most demanding industrial ventilation and safety projects to date: the complete design and construction of five (5) state-of-the-art Drum Degassing Chambers for XLPE cables at the JDR facility in the UK
The project was delivered fully operational (“turnkey”) in a record time of just six (6) months, demonstrating BCT Group’s capability to execute complex, high-performance engineering projects under strict deadlines while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Technical Features & Innovations
- Unified Technical Room: Design and construction of a centralized control room supporting the simultaneous and seamless operation of all five chambers maintaining the desired temperature.
- High-Performance Degassing System: Development of a cutting-edge dilution ventilation system engineered to handle extreme gas loads, ensuring the continuous and stable operation of the entire facility.
- Full PLC Automation: Integration of a state-of-the-art PLC system that continuously monitors, logs, and controls the entire degassing process, effectively eliminating the possibility of human error and optimizing process efficiency.
Absolute Safety & ATEX Compliance
In industrial environments managing explosive gases—such as the methane (CH4) emitted during XLPE cable curing—safety leaves no room for compromise.
BCT Group engineered this installation in strict accordance with the most rigorous international industrial hygiene and safety standards (ATEX). The integrated safety interlocks and the advanced ventilation system guarantee—both mathematically and practically—that methane levels consistently remain well below 25% of the Lower Explosive Limit (LEL). This provides the client with absolute safety, maximum personnel protection, and uninterrupted operational reliability.
